The Venus Optics Laowa 24mm EF mount Cine-Mod probe lens is probably our most unique lens available to rent. This borescope-like tool allows you to capture footage in areas inaccessible to normal lenses.
Laowa 24mm Benefits for Nature and Product Footage
The long barrel can document habitats and the insides of products without having to disturb the area or risk ruining your product shot arrangement. It’s also ideal for creative “slide in” shots in areas normally much too narrow for average lenses. The front barrel of this lens is waterproof – capture fish between rocks or the inside of a glass as something is poured into it!
Laowa 24mm vs Standard Macro Lenses
With a 2:1 magnification ratio while maintaining an ultra wide 84º angle of view, this lens provides the unusual ability to capture very small subjects while also documenting its surroundings. The deep, fixed f/14 aperture offers a much greater depth of field when compared to standard macro lenses. You’re able to focus very closely to your subject while still getting most of the background in focus. The 20mm diameter lens tip is small enough to not completely overshadow your macro subject, making lighting a tiny object – like a bug or jewelry – much easier. The lens comes with a built-in LED ring light at its tip, which can be powered easily with a common external USB battery pack.
Compatibility of the Laowa 24mm Probe Lens
This lens will mount on full frame and crop frame sensor cameras. Our rental is for the Canon EF mount version and is $65 to rent for 3 days. The Venus Optics Laowa 24mm EF Mount Probe Lens provides a new way to approach macro photography and filmmaking. It is ideal for nature documentaries, how-it’s-made style commercial shooting, and all manner of creative and professional projects.

Great details and information on the optics iaowa 24mm lens. Having the video was a great addition as well. Please keep making detailed reviews and tips for different camera equipment.
My friends,
I have MFT cameras (GH5S, ZCAM E2) and I’ll need a speedbooster. Do you have the Metabones? And which one you recommend for MFT cameras? The 0.64 or the 0.71?
Either of the MFT-compatible speedboosters will work but the magnification number will just depend on how much you want to reduce the crop factor by. The .64 will reduce the crop factor from 2x to 1.28x while the .71 will reduce it to 1.4x. See all of our Metabones MFT adapters here: https://www.borrowlenses.com/products/Metabones/Micro+Four+Thirds+Mount/Photo?sortBy=numOrders
